Lakeview Cemetery became a municipal cemetery with Act No. 411 in 1897; a multi-jurisdictional management agreement between the then village of Harbor Springs and Little, and West Traverse Townships.
Although burials pre-date the official establishment of Lakeview Cemetery, maintenance and improvements for more than one hundred and twenty years have been guided by, and achieved through the cooperative efforts of the three entities.
